Research background

IGF-1 LR3 is an analog of insulin-like growth factor 1 with two changes: a substitution at position 3 and a thirteen amino acid extension at the N-terminus. Both reduce its affinity for the binding proteins (IGFBPs), which in the body sequester most of the circulating IGF-1.

That is the reason it is used: circulating free, it lasts longer and is considerably more potent than native IGF-1 in culture. It is in fact a routine reagent in cell culture media and industrial bioprocessing, where it is used to sustain the proliferation of cell lines. In research it is studied around the IGF-1R/PI3K/Akt pathway, in cell growth and in muscle tissue repair.

Reconstitution and handling

Work on a clean surface and disinfect the vial stopper with an alcohol wipe before piercing it.
Add the bacteriostatic water slowly, letting it run down the inner wall of the vial rather than landing on the powder.
Do not shake. Swirl the vial gently until the lyophilized powder has fully dissolved: vigorous agitation degrades the peptide.
The solution should come out clear. If it turns cloudy or shows suspended particles, do not use it.
