Research background
Selank is a heptapeptide built on tuftsin, a tetrapeptide of the immune system, with the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail added that stabilizes Semax against peptidases.
What has been studied is above all its anxiolytic effect in animal models, and the mechanisms attributed to it run through modulation of the GABAergic and serotonergic systems and through changes in BDNF expression; there is also work on its immunomodulatory side, inherited from tuftsin. It shares the same underlying limitation as Semax: it was developed in Russia and the literature published outside that sphere is sparse.
Handling
- It arrives in solution and ready to use: there is nothing to reconstitute.
- Do not dilute it or mix it with other solutions.
- Keep the nozzle clean and do not swap it between vials.
Storage and stability
- Refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C and protected from light.
- Put it back in the fridge after each use. Do not freeze it.
