Research background
The DAC (Drug Affinity Complex) is a maleimidopropionyl group on the C-terminal lysine. It reacts with cysteine 34 of serum albumin and forms a peptide-albumin conjugate that is no longer filtered by the kidney nor degraded like the free peptide: the half-life goes from about 30 minutes to between 6 and 8 days.
That change of scale is precisely what is researched. With DAC, the GHRH receptor sees a sustained concentration instead of a pulse, and published work focuses on the effect of that continuous exposure on GH and IGF-1 levels and on the pulsatile pattern itself, which is preserved on top of a higher baseline.
Not to be confused with CJC-1295 no-DAC (Mod GRF 1-29), sold under an almost identical name and a different molecule: C165H269N47O46 and 3647.25 Da here, against C152H252N44O42 and 3367.90 Da there. They are two separate products in this catalogue for that reason.
Reconstitution and handling
- Work on a clean surface and disinfect the vial stopper with an alcohol wipe before piercing it.
- Add the bacteriostatic water slowly, letting it run down the inner wall of the vial rather than landing on the powder.
- Do not shake. Swirl the vial gently until the lyophilized powder has fully dissolved: vigorous agitation degrades the peptide.
- The solution should come out clear. If it turns cloudy or shows suspended particles, do not use it.
Storage and stability
- Before reconstitution: refrigerated between 2 and 8 °C, protected from light and moisture.
- After reconstitution: in the fridge and away from light. In solution the peptide lasts far less than as a powder, so it is best used soon.
- Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
